TOUR DE SINGKARAK 2O12 ROUTE AND STAGES
Running from Monday June 4th to Sunday June 9th 2012, Tour de Singkarak will be made up of 7 stages and will cover a total distance of about 900 kilometres or about 1/4 of Tour de France with total distance 3,479 kilometres.

TOUR DE SINGKARAK 2012 TO START IN SAWAHLUNTO
Deputy Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy, Nirwandar, in a press conference of Tour de Singkarak 2012, at the Hall of Soesilo Soedarman, Building Seven Charm, Medan Merdeka Street West , Jakarta, Wednesday (18/01/2012) anouncing that Grand Depart (start) of the Tour de Singkarak 21012 will take place in Sawahlunto.
It will be the first time that the ‘old coal mining town’ will welcome the peloton of the greatest cycling race in the world.

International cycling Race Tour de Singkarak will be held on June 2012
Jakarta - International cycling race Tour de Singkarak 2012 will be held on 4 to 10 June 2012 . In addition to sports, this event will still highlight the culture and tourism of West Sumatra.
In addition to the increase in the number of riders and participants (attended by about 120 athletes from 15 countries), the organizers also tried to improve some things, like adding the two cities to the list of routes, and make the more challenging route.
"There are some technical improvements, which is challenging route and the distance is not too short," said Deputy Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy, Nirwandar, in a press conference of Tour de Singkarak 2012, at the Hall of Soesilo Soedarman, Building Seven Charm, Medan Merdeka Street West , Jakarta, Wednesday (18/01/2012).
Route at least for this year is over 100 km per stage. This year there will be seven stages, with Sijunjung and the Pesisir Selatan is the new city into two routes. Total route to be taken by the cyclist is 800 kilometers, passing through 14 cities and counties.
Every city and county through which the race route will showcase local arts respectively. Not only is the art of music, dance and cuisine, but also the culture of the area.
On the last day of the event, there will be Authentic Padang Rendang Festival (West Sumatra caramelized beef curry) at Padang. To draw tourist attention, famous rendang chefs will cook 5.2 tons of rendang. Tourist expected to not missing this festival because rendang is "World's 50 Most Delicious Foods"
Sawahlunto chosen as the start point of the Tour, and finish at Padang. The selection of this area following the Tour de France concept, which can dynamically start but the end point must be located in the capital city. The capital city is the entrance and exit area. especially to ease the return of participants.
In the meantime, West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno adding that the organization of the Tour de Singkarak 2012 is expected to bring increased economic impact for the people of West Sumatra. "This event not only enlivened by a team of international riders, but the travelers from overseas also come to watch this race and enjoy the natural beauty of West Sumatra," said Irwan.
In order for this annual event more festive event, every city and county passing by riders will hold various events such as arts, culture, culinary and crafts typical of the local area. Some areas will also hold several festivals to entertain the tourists, such as Langkisau Festival in the Pesisir Selatan District.In this festival there will be a paragliding competition involving participants from the Netherlands. There are also inter-island swim, paddle races and various folk art performances. There was alsoFestival Siti Nurbaya to enliven this international event.
